China
One of the most depressing cities I've ever visited, Erlyan, chinese border town. As soon as you step out of train locals know you're in trouble and do their best to totally rip you off (they know how to do it, too).
Joni is demonstrating how people gather to stare at you in small village with 3 million inhabitants, Jining. All you need is piece of scrap and gestura as if you were inspecting it thorougly (and western look).
Train from Jining to Beijing takes 9 hours to cover distance of 400 kilometers, has about 10 000 too many people inside and therefore offers you the worst time you've ever had.
Our hotel, Zhao Long International Youth Hospital in Beijing. Coincidentally they run ouf of beer the second day we spent there.
Ilkka advertises local Style beer this time. I wonder if Sol is furious Style copied their beer.
Our hostel room seen inside. Especially notice the overall tidiness and general feelings of comfort.
Artistic view to the temple of heavens.
The final resting place of Mao Zedong, author of little red book. Also the final place to be seen by > 2000 students crushed by chinese tanks 1991 or so...
Side alley in Beijing, alias "real Beijing". No white men has gone there before.
Handy invention in local chinese restaurant. Straw is lead in the middle of opener so it stayes where you leave it.
Chinese streets are wider than russian ones. This particular one boosts 16 lanes.
Here we go again. 0.64l beer costs less than 3 finnish marks, so there's nothing we can do.
Ilkka climbed the Great Wall...
...and so did everyone else, including 60 years old man with 500 water bottles in his back (probably several times a day).
Ming Tombs near Beijing. At the other end of corridor there's Joni and emperor in his tomb.
Gettings back, here we are leaving Copenhagen airport soon...
...and finally we're back to Tampere, standing at bus station after very quickly gone (we slept) bus ride.
